Holiday Reminders and Notions

It’s that time of year. All craziness is shining through. Each year, as I grow older and my roles change in life, this time of year gets busier and crazier for me.

There is just so much around us to look at. Seasons changing, the trees almost looking on fire and soon trees and yards will be covered in Christmas decorations…Giant inflatable snow globes with little Rudolph’s inside… With so much chaos, I think maybe we have forgotten what the heart of the holiday season is all about.

So with this post I’ve got your holiday reminders covered… Whether you need them or not, they are sure to help turn that “ooohhh chaos” feeling into a nice warm holiday Zen feeling.

This time of year, stress is everywhere. It weighs on everyone, even sweet grannies. Sometimes it makes the people we love look like manic beasts. I think it is important to TRY (try) to maintain some sort of family harmony. A balance act, if you are creative enough you can even make it a show. I found this article at ehow cheesy but honest and true. http://www.ehow.com/how_4563519_along-family-during-holidays.html .

This time of year food looks, tastes, and smells amazing. Now as a wife and mother, I have learned to cook just about everything from steaks to banana bread. Even the weight watchers and heath-nuts cave in (or not, I won’t tell) once they smell the sweet aroma of pumpkin pie. Personally I am a hand me down recipe hoarder.

My grandmother taught me to make candy when I was eight and every year since then without fail for Christmas I have made dozens of peanut butter balls and coconut bon-bons.

While I won’t be sharing those with you today here you will find dozens of other tasty holiday treats: http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/holiday-seasonal-recipes/

Children especially, but everyone will tell you, gifts are a part of it. Let’s not be naive, even the most sentimental greeting card collector smiles when they are given something that truly fits them. Without a doubt, the place to find that special gift for anyone--- is http://www.etsy.com/ You probably knew about etsy, that’s why I am reminding you…. From something totally useless but jaw droppingly adorable- to something handy and rad... You’ll find it at Etsy. ( and.. you can totally make a wishlist)

In closure I would like to remind you, of perhaps the most important part of all.. ENJOYING IT. Have a meaningful Thanksgiving, a wonderful Christmas, and a very happy New Year.

Yours Truly,
Nicole Slusher
